In honor of the big game... or should I say the Big Game (those of you who don't know what that is, shame on you!) coming up, I will be reviewing a truly fantastic college ( no bias here)! Thats right, it's time for UC Berkeley! ( Relax Stanford fans. I will do that one later... Oh, and I'm sure the Cardinals will do fine.) Ok, lets get down to business.
So the amazing college line was not a joke, situated in city of Berkeley on California's coastline, UC Berkeley, also known as Cal, is ranked 21st in the National Best Colleges 2013 edition. It's campus is very spread out and melds right into the city, providing a unique setting for this esteemed college. The campus is an interesting mix of brilliant students roaming the streets and the liberal activists that the city is famous for. But don't let that dissuade you! Berkeley is known for its rich political and cultural life and is a joy to explore.
Along with an excellent campus, Berkeley is a distinguished academic institution. In the 2010 National Council Research Rankings, Berkeley's departments placed first in Agriculture and Resource Economics, Astrophysics, Chemistry, Civil and Environmental Engineering,Computer Science, English, Epidemiology, German, History of Art, Mathematics, Mechanical Engineering, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Genetics, Genomics, Physics, Plant Biology, and Political Sciences. Whew. Thats a long list. To summarize, they have a ton of good programs!
And yes... to you sports people, they do have good sports programs. They are part of the PAC-12 Conference, along with their rival, Stanford, whom they are going to beat tomorrow at the Big Game ( sorry... unbiased). Oh! Interesting tidbit time! UC Berkeley sent the most athletes to the 2012 Olympic Games out of all public schools at a whooping 45!
OVERALL: 5/5 Stars
Well I'm sure that scared off any potential Stanford readers. I like the statistics you provide on Berkeley, but they seem to be somewhat one-sided... perhaps you could provide both the positive views on a campus and opposing negative views. Or, you could go more in depth as to what *YOU* think of the campus, after all, it is your blog and you are entitled to your own opinions.
ReplyDeleteOverall though, I like your post's structure, layout, and active tone of voice.
its not the Stanford Cardinals... its the Stanford Cardinal. lol... nice post though, i like the tidbits. And btw, you owe me a watermelon arizona.
ReplyDeleteInteresting idea for a blog, reviewing colleges instead of looking at careers. It is very obvious that you are extremely unbiased. Are you only looking at Berkeley for college, or are you looking at other places as well? I have heard however, that their math program is fantastic.
